  • Each class has different build rules, standards and expectations to be able to race. Class specific’s can be found in that classes particular page (Coming Soon)
  • Transponders are required for all classes* and must be correctly fitted. Further details can be found here.
  • Tipperary Raceway follow the ORCi Rules of racing for . There are occasional differences to suit the track. More details can be found here
  • Drivers are expected to understand and abide by all rules. Lack of knowledge of the rules is not a valid reason for breaking them.
  • Race Radios are required for all classes*. Drivers should tune in to Channel 952 (Channel 2 on RT race receiver). Further Details can be found here

    *Transponders and Race Radio’s are currently not required for Banger classes.

Ninja Karts are our newest formula introduced to Tipperary Raceway in 2023. This is an international class of racing. We regularly host drivers from Northern Ireland and the UK. Drivers as young as 6 are able to race.

Junior Rods: Junior drivers drive restricted Micra’s. Using standard suspension and road tyres. Drivers from 11 to 16 years old. We run 2 classes to allow us to separate races allowing us to cater for more experienced drivers. The latest rules can be found here.


Premier Rods: Multicar racing, 1600 Engines, and close to non-modified as possible. This class allows several models of cars such as Corolla’s, Mini’s, Focus’, Mazda’s, Astra’s, and several others. This creates close door-to-door racing, in a class that’s growing constantly. Build rules can be found here

Productions Rods: This action-packed class drive Starlet’s and Micra’s. 1 ltr engines with carefully regulated modifications mainly to the suspension and track tyres.


Open Rear Wheel Drive Hot Rods. No holes barred racing allowing almost any rear Wheel Drive car be it originally FWD or RWD. Powerful engines, and slick tyres. One of our fastest classes.

Lightning Rods. A carefully controlled international class. While they have traditionally been racing Ford Sierra’s drivers are moving now moving towards BMW 3 series with Ford Engines (Pinto and Zetecs). Great sideways action that always provides a spectacle.

2Ltr Hot Rods. Regulated, international racing, space frame chassis and RWD. What’s not to love.

National Hot Rods. The premier Short track Hot Rod Racing in Europe and South Africa. There’s not much more exciting the the green flag dropping on a full grid. Space Frames, 2Ltr engines, slick tyres, regulated racing.
